Planting Thoughtful Connections
The Giving Seeds of Love project intends to focus on building intercultural awareness.
The Outcome
The project was originally scheduled to run workshops from 1 January 2020 through to 30 November 2020. However, due to COVID-19 we had to delay all workshops until it was safe for us to conduct workshops. We applied for an extension to the Office of Ethnic Communities until 31 July 2021.
The team was able to successfully conduct workshops with the groups indicated where members of diverse communities attended the sessions. Amongst the groups were two kindergartens , two playgroups, AVIVIA family violence team, Muslim community groups and YWCA. Our smallest workshop was 12 people and our biggest was over 50.
The project aims to run workshops to create Seeds of Love which will bring people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds together. The tangible aspect of this project are the Seeds of Love which is associated with wildflowers and using it as a mechanism to facilitate conversations around diversity, inclusion and recognition of ethnic communities.
“We estimate in total 450 people attended these workshops and created over 1000 cards and over 2000 seeded hearts. ”
